CT (vinyl composite tile) is a durable and affordable flooring material that is often used in commercial and institutional settings. However, VCT floors can become dull and dingy if they are not properly cleaned and maintained. In this blog post, we will discuss how to clean a VCT floor.
Equipment
Before you start, gather the following equipment:
Microfiber mop or cotton mop head
Bucket
Neutral-pH cleaner
Floor machine (optional)
Red scrubbing pad (optional)
Mop and wringer (optional)
Wet floor signs
Floor fan (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Sweep or vacuum the floor

The first step is to sweep or vacuum the floor to remove loose dirt and debris. This will prevent you from tracking dirt and debris onto the clean floor when you mop.
Step 2: Prepare the cleaning solution

Fill a bucket with warm water and add the appropriate amount of neutral-pH cleaner. Follow the instructions on the product label.
Step 3: Mop the floor

Wet your mop in the cleaning solution and wring it out so that it is damp but not dripping. Mop the floor in small sections, working your way from one end of the room to the other.
Step 4: Rinse the mop
After you have mopped a section of the floor, rinse your mop in clean water and wring it out well.
Step 5: Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the entire floor has been mopped.
Step 6: Buff the floor
If you have a floor machine, you can buff the floor to give it a shine. Use a red scrubbing pad and buff the floor in the same direction as the mop strokes.

Step 7: Allow the floor to dry completely
Once the floor is dry, you can remove the wet floor signs.
Additional Tips
For stubborn dirt and grime, you can use a red scrubbing pad.
If you do not have a floor machine, you can buff the floor with a clean, dry mop.
To prevent streaks, mop the floor in small sections and do not overlap the strokes.
If you have a large VCT floor, you may want to consider using an auto scrubber.
Always read the instructions on the product label before using any cleaning products.
